About us

Beach Cities Lacrosse ● HomeAbout us

Beach Cities Youth Lacrosse is a non-profit community sports club dedicated to growing the game of lacrosse and making it accessible to young athletes across the Beach Cities area.

We serve K-12 boys and girls throughout Long Beach, Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Lakewood, Downey, and surrounding communities. Whether a player is picking up a stick for the first time or continuing to build their skills, our program provides a welcoming place to learn, compete, and grow.

Our focus goes beyond the game. Through lacrosse, players develop confidence, teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of community. We believe every athlete should have the opportunity to experience the speed, skill, and tradition of lacrosse in a supportive environment.

At Beach Cities Youth Lacrosse, interest and enthusiasm are the starting points. We are here to help players discover the game, build lasting friendships, and develop both on and off the field.

Our Mission.

Beach Cities Lacrosse is a boys and girls youth lacrosse club serving Long Beach, Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Lakewood and surrounding areas. We promote the sport of lacrosse and elevate the level of play within our community. We attempt to balance playing time as equally as possible, taking into consideration the impact of different positions, the flow of the game, the developmental needs of players, and overall improvement of the team. We police ourselves in the effort to provide an outlet for kids that has not been swept up in the pressure filled, win-at-all-cost mania that is too present in today's youth sports.

The focus of this organization is to support the Beach Cities Youth Lacrosse teams and to work cooperatively with the schools for the benefit of all lacrosse athletes. We are all USA Lacrosse members and fully insured. We endorse three principal qualities: safe, fair, fun.

According to USA Lacrosse, most of our U.S. National Team athletes started their lacrosse life with friends and fun. Ninety-four percent of them were 14U members in local town or rec programs. The very best players in the world started in grassroots organizations. That's where love of the game, skill development and greatness begins. We couldn't agree more!

Our policies.

Everyone plays. Our program’s goal is for kids to play lacrosse and playing time is as balanced as possible to ensure player development and improvement of the team.

Balanced teams. Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible against the division they are slotted to compete with.  We recognize it is it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.

Open registration. Our program is open to boys and girls ages 5-18, depending on the program. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing.

Positive coaching. Encouragement of player effort provides greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players. We use coaching methods called Positive Coaching Alliance which enforces sportsmanship, ethics, and helps today's youth meet tomorrow's challenges, via lacrosse.

Good sportsmanship. We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-cost attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of Beach Cities Youth Lacrosse
