Costs

The cost varies from program to program and ranges greatly from single session cost to youth season to tournament packages. This fee may cover field permits for practices, league fees, team equipment (balls, goals, etc.), professional coaches and other administrative and overhead costs each club has. BCYL is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization.

What do registration fees pay for? BCYL is a non-profit. Fees are calculated using the hard costs we incur to run teams. Your fees help pay for team registration/league fees, field rentals, coaches pay, equipment and administrative costs (web site, insurance, banking fees.) Other than the stipends paid to our professional coaches, other Board Members and Parent Coaches are volunteers.

This cost of this equipment can vary greatly depending on the level of gear what you want to purchase. A stick alone can range from $30 to $300+. The estimated cost of the necessary equipment is about $450. With the exception of gloves and cleats, the majority of this equipment will likely last most of the player's youth career. Some local lacrosse stores and online outlets have bundled starter packages at reasonable prices and that's a good place to start. There's a lot more detail about equipment under each game's section on our site.

Lacrosse is a very unique sport. In addition to the regular Beach Cities seasons, many players continue to play throughout the year with other groups as well as attend summer camps and clinics. Participation in all of these additional activities requires the same equipment. This is the primary reason why lacrosse players, unlike youth football players for example, purchase their own gear.

Beach Cities does our best to maintain a locker of enough loaner helmets, pads and gloves for beginning players. We also have some sticks players can borrow. We offer this option free of charge on a temporary basis.

Players are required to become a member of USA Lacrosse, the national governing body of the sport, which is the club's liability insurance provider. It also furnishes catastrophic health insurance and a subscription to Lacrosse Magazine. Information about annual membership can be found at https://www.usalacrosse.com/

Please do not wait to register! Roster spots are limited and will be honored on a first come basis! Payment is required for your player’s registration to be completed. Any previous outstanding balance on an account must be paid in full before new registration can be completed. Once an age group's team roster is full, subsequent registrants go on a wait-list until there are enough to form a second team, and so on from there.

Considerable planning and financial commitment goes into each season. Coaches must be hired, fields rented, uniforms ordered and teams registered to compete in a league. Camps and Clinics have similar hard costs. To keep costs as low as possible, we make many arrangements in advance and must ask participants to share in this commitment.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing by sending an email to Club Administrator Michelle Pryor at mmpad7@gmail.com. A $50 processing fee will be deducted from the fees of each player/registration. Refunds usually processed after registration for program has closed. Request for refunds due to injury/illness are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Refund of fees:

• Before program begins: 100% refund less $50 processing fee
• After program has begun: 50% refund less $50 processing fee
• No refund after program begins
